It’s been eighteen months since the Raxter School for Girls was put under quarantine. Since the Tox hit and pulled Hetty’s life out from under her.

It started slow. First the teachers died one by one. Then it began to infect the students, turning their bodies strange and foreign. Now, cut off from the rest of the world and left to fend for themselves on their island home, the girls don’t dare wander outside the school’s fence, where the Tox has made the woods wild and dangerous. They wait for the cure they were promised as the Tox seeps into everything.

But when Byatt goes missing, Hetty will do anything to find her, even if it means breaking quarantine and braving the horrors that lie beyond the fence. And when she does, Hetty learns that there’s more to their story, to their life at Raxter, than she could have ever thought true.

Okay so, this has fully been the first book I have finished in MONTHS. I have been in such a slump and feeling full defeated. But, this story really caught me and reminded me why I love reading so much. Why I love imagining characters and whole worlds. I needed this.

HOWEVER, I have so. many. questions.

There absolutely MUST be another book to this, yes? ***spoilers if you read any further as I need to list all my questions/feelings 😭

FIRST OF ALL, is Hetty alive?! How the hell is Byatt alive?! What the hell IS the Tox.

I need to know more about this. I had so many assumptions while reading only to realize I had like, 10 pages left and there was so way I was getting my answers. What happens to them when they get to the mainland? What about all the other girls? How did they just decide to leave them all?!

Four stars from me definitely, and I will be setting a google alert for any book news relating to this!!

Happy reading all!
